Abstract
These Regulations, made under provisions of section 59 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act of 1992, provide for indicating the procedure in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, from project conception to commissioning and follow-up activities, in order to ensure that the project is implemented with maximum consideration for the environmental protection. The Regulations concern: application fee for project proposal; registration; initial environmental examination; criteria for categorisation of projects, including: risk assessment and mitigation measures available; Environmental Impact Assessment required; scoping exercise, in order to ensure that all significant impacts and reasonable alternatives are addressed in the intended EIA; public participation; sectoral, National and International guidelines; review process; certification; penalties; monitoring the progress of the projects, in order to ensure compliance with all stipulated mitigation measures; environmental auditing.
