Abstract
These Regulations, made under provisions of section 34 of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (Establishment) Act, no. 25 of 2007, provide for: preventing and minimising environmental pollution from activities and operations from the electronic sector. The Regulations cover the following matters: importation of electrical and electronic equipments; submission of environmental impact assessment, environmental audit report and environmental management plan for any new project; registration and adoption of an emergency response Plan; minimum standards for emissions; installation of anti-pollution equipment; polluter-pays principle; implementation of best practices; management of oil station and fuel dump sites; effluent limitation; restriction on the release of toxic effluent; sludge disposal; air pollutants and burning of fuels; noise standards and control; electronic-waste handling and control; collection centre and recycling operations; industrial effluent monitoring and reporting; offences and penalties.
