Abstract
These Regulations, made under section 34 of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (Establishment) Act, 2007, provide for the control and reduction of noise in Nigeria. They: a) prescribe the maximum permissible noise levels a facility or activity to which a person may be exposed; b) provide for the control of noise and for mitigating measures for the reduction of noise; c) prescribe measures of enforcement; and d) generally give effect to the provisions of section 22 of the Act. The Regulations prescribe maximum permissible noise levels from a facility and other permissible noise levels and require measures for the mitigation and reduction of noise to be introduced. Emission of noise in excess of the permissible levels requires a permit of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency.
