Pre-packaged Food (Labelling) Regulations, Statutory Instrument no. 27 of 2023.

These Regulations, made under sections 5 and 30 of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control Act (Cap. N1, LFN) 2004 and section 12 of the Food, Drug and Related Products (Registration, Etc.) Act (Cap. F33, LFN) 2004, apply to labelling of pre-packaged food manufactured, imported, exported, sold, distributed or used in Nigeria. The Regulations concern: indication of name of pre-packaged food; list of flavours and ingredients; labelling information and food characteristics; special indications for biotechnology genetically modified food; carried over of food additives from raw materials into food; name and contact of manufacturer and distributor of food; storage conditions; nutritional information; quantitative labelling of ingredients; prohibitions, offences and penalties.
