Abstract
These Control of Trade Cattle Regulations govern the movement, inspection, and licensing of cattle intended for trade, particularly across and within areas of Ebonyi State, Nigeria. The Regulations aim to prevent the spread of diseases such as rinderpest, anthrax, and tuberculosis by requiring cattle to be inspected at designated stations or control posts before being moved. Movement permits must be obtained, and cattle must follow prescribed routes. Only healthy animals may be transported, and any signs of disease must be reported immediately. Trade cattle must not be loaded onto transport without a valid permit, and only licensed individuals—based on prior transport volume—may obtain annual or temporary licenses. All movements, sales, or deaths of cattle must be reported and documented. Violations, such as unauthorized movement or failure to comply with inspection protocols, are subject to penalties.
