Abstract
This Decree amends the principal Decree to give effect to the Protocol of Cartagena on biosafety and to new rules introduced by Directive 2001/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms and repealing Council Directive 90/220/EEC. The extensive amendments of the principal Decrees concern the exportation of genetically modified organisms to countries outside of the EU and the introduction and placing on the market of genetically modified organisms within the EU. The provisions concern (procedures for) the granting of permits, labelling of gmo's, monitoring of gmo's by permit holders after introduction, etc.
