Abstract
The Act enforces regulations applying to the salmonids and freshwater fish Act, which now include anadromous salmonids, freshwater fish and other freshwater organisms that have escaped from fish farms when living freely in the sea or rivers, national watercourses, national salmon fiords and coastal territory. Consideration for the protection of fish and other freshwater organisms (ecological processes) shall be included in municipal plannings. Preventions of pollution shall be implemented in order to limit biodiversity damage and shall compensation thereof shall be considered (with exception of fish disease cases). Method and type of fishing gear shall change according to fishing areas and additional prohibited method added to the Act include fishing by bait in rivers. With regard to marking boundaries, the Fisheries Directive may use private land and costs for maintenance or decommissioning of such facilities shall be borne by the Treasury.
