Abstract
The purpose of this Act is to to contribute to increased production of electrical energy from renewable energy sources. The Act has 32 Sections divided into the following Chapter: 1. Introductory provisions; 2. Issuance of electricity certificates; 3. The electricity certificates registry and sales of electricity certificates; 4. Mandatory electrify certificate; 5. Various provisions; 6. Entry into force, transitional provisions and amendments.
To be eligible for receiving an electricity certificate, the production facility shall: a) Produce energy from renewable sources listed in Section 7; b) Be approved in accordance with Section 8; and c) Meet the requirements for measurement and reporting under Section 9. Renewable energy sources listed in Section 7 include hydropower, wind power, solar energy, ocean energy, geothermal energy, and bioenergy. The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy shall be the authority responsible for supervising this Act.
