Abstract
The scope of this Decree is to brand tame reindeer with the registered mark of the owner so as to enable control of ownership. The right of marking is based on section 3 of the Reindeer Farming Act. Each farm shall have its own mark. Owners involved in joint-farming may require registration of a principal mark. In each reindeer pasture district a Marking Committee for the registration of marks shall be created. Section 3 concerns the form of the mark. Section 9 lays down rules for the actual branding. Section 10 to 12 concern unbranded calves and adult animals. Unmarked adult reindeer may be slaughtered and the meat sold under authority of a representative of the Committee.
