Decree No. 1239 of 2003 relative to animal health requirements for the placing on the market and importation of aquaculture animals and aquaculture products.

This Decree makes provision in general for the control of animal health requirements in relation with the production, transportation, processing, placing on the market and the importation of third countries of aquaculture products including live fish for hatching purposes.
The objective of the Decree is to prevent the spreading of transmittable animal diseases affecting aquaculture animals. The Decree specifies various health requirements for aquaculture installations and requires a health certificate for aquaculture products of third countries, i.e. countries that are not members of the European Union or have trade arrangements within the framework of the European Area Agreement. The Decree also concerns the approval of import centres. Schedule 1 lists the transmittable diseases to which this Decree applies. Other Schedules concern transportation documents, health certificates, importation from third countries and certain exemptions.
