Decree No. 1342 of 1999 relative to satellite-based control of activities of foreign fishing vessels in the Norwegian Economic Zone and the Fisheries Zone of Jan Mayen.

This Decree applies to vessels flying the flag of one of the member states of the European Union with a total length over 24 metres fishing in the Norwegian economic zone and the fishery zone of Jan Mayen. These vessels shall have a satellite tracking system installed on board in accordance with sections 2 and 3. Section 4 prohibits manipulation of satellite tracking equipment. Sections 5 and 6 provide for measures in the circumstance that the system fails. Alternative use of reporting shall be used and the vessel is under obligation to repair or substitute equipment within a month. (8 sections)
