Abstract
The Decree prohibits in general the fishing by Norwegian vessels for plaice in marine areas comprising the Skagerrak and the area which in the west is limited by a straight line from Lindesnes to Hanstholmen and in the south by a straight line between the Skagen buoy and the Tistlarna buoy in the area 4 nautical miles away from the Swedish and the Danish baselines and in the North Sea in the internal waters of Norway, and the EEZ south of 62° N and the EU zone in ICES area IV. However,it allows a total catch by Norwegian vessels of 187 tons in the Skagerrak and 2.885 tons in the North Sea of which part may be caught by vessels with conventional gear and part by trawl vessels. Single vessels of this group may fish specified quotas. Remaining provisions concern powers of the Director of Fisheries, including the power to stop fishing and to cancel group quotas, and penalties.
