Abstract
This Decree implements Directives of the EC Council as a consequence of the membership of Norway to the European Economic Area Agreement. It concerns the use of additives in food including chemicals for potable water (sect. 1). It allows only substances listed in Schedule II ("the positive list") to be used (art. 3). Other use shall be appoved previously by the State Food Control Agency (art. 7). Section 4 concerns criteria for establishing the purity and identity of additives. Remaining provisions concern labelling and control. Schedule I specifies definitions of food additive groups. Schedules III specify general criteria for the use of additives in food. These Regulations are amended in accordance with amendments of annexes of the Agreement of the European Economic Area of 1992.
