Abstract
This Decree exempts certain fishing operations from the prohibition introduced by the Marine Fisheries Act to fish on Sundays and holidays: the prohibition to fish on holidays introduced in section 13 does not apply to fishing in the fisheries zone of Jan Mayen, the fish protection zone of Svalbard and the territorial and inner waters of Svalbard Fishing on holidays is also allowed beyond a line 2 nautical miles from the baseline, except for fishing for sprat within 90 nautical miles measured from the baseline and fishing for herring or mackerel in the Skagerrak or with certain gear. The prohibition regarding Sundays does not apply in a zone between 4 and 12 nautical miles from the baseline in the periods in which trawling for bottom fish is allowed in accordance with Decree No. 1030 of 1989. The setting out of fixed gear fishing for cod and haddock is also allowed after 4 pm on Sundays and holidays. This exemption applies also to fixed gear for fishing for mackerel set out after 10 pm.
