Decree No. 320 of 1994 concerning meat inspection and the trade in and other handling of fresh meat.

This Decree sets out criteria and procedures for the hygiene inspection of fresh meat and the control of residues in meat and provides rules relative to the marking of meat and provides for various administrative matters relative to the placing on the market and its importation and exportation.
The Decree shall apply to all fresh meat obtained from livestock, horses, game in captivity and tame reindeers. All meat intended for consumption shall be inspected by a supervisory veterinary and condemned meat shall be destroyed. The Decree also provides rules for the treatment of diseased animals intended for slaughter and prescribes conditions for meat produced in a country of the EEA agreement and imported in Norway. The liver and kidneys of specified animals shall be controlled on residues of noxious substances. Meat shall be marked in accordance with provisions of this Decree. The Decree also prescribes rules relative to transportation documents.
