Decree No. 718 of 2008 relative position reporting by vessels in waters of Svalbard.

This Decree requires all passenger ships and all ships with a length of more than 24 metres navigating within the territorial and inner waters of Svalbard to report on their position to the Coast Guard. The vessels shall report entrance and exit from territorial waters and their sailing plan. The Decree aims at control of navigation by vessels for the purpose of safety of marine traffic and the protection of the environment.
