Abstract
This Decree introduces a duty to keep catch logbooks and to notify the contents of such books to the Directorate of Fisheries by Norwegian vessels fishing not only in waters under Norwegian fishery jurisdiction, but also in jurisdiction of other countries and outside any fisheries jurisdiction, as far as not otherwise indicated in the Decree or elsewhere. Section 2 requires vessels over 21 metres of length and other vessels carrying out specified fishing operations (according to type of licence, area where to fish or fish species) to keep catch logbooks. Section 3 outlines the contents of such records. Vessels exempted from the duty to keep full records shall, if measuring 13 metres or more, keep simplified records in accordance with sections 4 and 5. Records shall be kept on board for at least 2 years (sect. 6). Vessels participating in certain fishing groups shall, within a month after ending fishing operations, send the original to the Directorate (sect. 7). Vessels to be indicated by the Directorate of Fisheries shall send a account statement within two months after the accounting year (sect. 9). (12 sections)
