Abstract
This Decree provides for the control of residues of veterinary preparations in foodstuffs of animal origin including meat, fish, milk, eggs, and honey. It does not apply to preparations intended to bring about active or passive immunity against diseases. The Decree implements legislation of the European Communities specified in section 2 so as to carry out obligations of Norway as a member of the European Economic Area. The Decree allows for more stringent rules with respect to maximum residue limits for fish and fish products produced in Norway. Sections 3 to 5 delegate powers of inspection to the State Food Control Agency with respect to meat in accordance with the Meat Control Act and with respect to products other than fish and fish products in accordance with the Food Control Act. The Director of Fisheries shall be responsible for the control of residues in fish and fish products in accordance with provisions of the Act relative to control of quality of fish and fish products.
