This Decree, made under sections 11, 12, 14, 16, 27, 36, 37, 39 and 59 of the marine Resources Act and sections 12, 20 and 21 of the Participation Act, specifies criteria for participation in fishing in 2017 for cod, haddock and coalfish by Norwegian vessels north of 62 °N. The Decree prohibits in principle fishing for and landing of any of these species in the area specified but allows as an exemption from the prohibition a total allowable catch and specific fishing quotas for each species for specified fisheries, i.e. trawl group fishery, purse seine group fishery, group fishery, conventional gear group fishery. The Decree also specifies single vessel quotas for vessels participating in each fishery and bycatch quotas. It also concerns small-scale commercial fishery and quota calculation in case of replacement or converting of fishing vessels.
