Abstract
This Memorandum of Understanding between, on the one side, the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Ministry of Children and Family Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Care Services, and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, and, on the other side, the Norwegian food industry, seeks to promote a better use of resources and raw materials through the prevention of food waste throughout the food chain and to reduce the environmental and resource problems associated with food waste in Norway. It sets a framework for the work of setting reduction targets, finding effective measures, identifying sources and developing indicators throughout the food chain. It also contains a provisory definition of food waste for the purposes of these actions. The Parties agree to prepare and sign a definite agreement on food waste by the summer of 2016. This memorandum shall be valid until it is replaced by a definite agreement.
