Partial delegation of authority of the Department of Fisheries pursuant to the Decree relative to fisheries zones around Svalbard, section 3 and the Decree relative to fishing in the territorial waters and the inner waters of Svalbard, section 1 (No. 794 of 1997).

The Decrees, referred to in this Order, give powers to the Department of Fisheries to prohibit fishing in order to protect young fish and fish stock, to regulate the use of gear and the minimum size of fish, and to fix yearly the total allowable catch for a specific fish species. The prohibition of fishing may be given for the whole year or part of a year. These powers are now delegated to the Directorate of Fisheries with the exception to prohibit shrimp fishing in certain areas.
