This regulation applies to cod-fishery in international waters in the area north of 35° N and west of a line drawn along the meridian 42° W to position 59° N 42° W and along meridian 44° W to the coast of Greenland (NAFO area). It is illegal for Norwegian vessels to fish and land cod in The NAFO Convention Area in 2013, however they may undertake these activities for a maximum total allowable catch of 1 305 tons of cod in the area 3M. Permission to do so shall be granted by the Fisheries Directorate. With permission from the Fisheries Directorate, observation coverage may be reduced to 25% of the period in which vessels are present in fishing areas if a daily catch report is electronically submitted in adherence to article 3c of Regulation No. 1507 of 11 December 2009 (LEX-FAOC100725). All costs for observation coverage shall be borne by the vessels.
