This Regulation sets regulations with regard to fundamental principles of accident investigations in the maritime transport sector and the adoption of IMO Code for the Investigation of Marine Casualties and Incidents in adherence to EU regulations.

Implementing EEA Agreement, Annex XIII 55ca (Commission Regulation (EU) No. 1286/2011 of 9 December 2011 on the adoption of a common methodology for the investigation of accidents and incidents at sea, developed in accordance with Article 5(4) of Directive 2009/18/EF) apply as regulations with such modifications as are required by Annex XIII of protocol 1 to the Agreement and the Agreement otherwise.Implementing EEA Agreement, Annex XIII 55ca (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 651/2011 of 5 July 2011 on the adoption of rules of procedure for the framework of the regular cooperation established by the Member States in cooperation with the Commission pursuant to Article 10 of the European Parliament and Council Directive 2009/18/EF) apply as regulations with such modifications as are required by Annex XIII of protocol 1 to the Agreement and the Agreement otherwise.
