Abstract
This Act provides for the registration of sea-going ships, ownership and other matters regarding the legal status of ships, and various other matters relative to marine navigation and use of ships. It applies in part also to fishing and whaling vessels. Chapter 1 contains general provisions regarding ships: nationality, name and homeport of ships. Chapter 2 makes provision for registration of ships: Ships register; procedures of registration (I); Registration of rights (II); Annulment and expiry of rights (III); Ships under construction (IV); Miscellaneous provisions (V). Installations for the research of natural phenomena (VI). Section 137 concerns contracting of fishing gear. Various provisions concern liability for transported goods including oil (sect. 191) and living animals (sect. 277).
