Abstract
The purpose of this Regulation is to ensure management of artict char-fishing (Salvelinus alpinus) in Svalbard. It recognizes that maintaining stock productivity and ensuring recreational fishing is an important activity for residents and visitors to Svalbard. The Regulation establishes the fishing management for year 2013 and applies to fishing in and around rivers and marine areas in the Svalbard territory, including Hopen and Bjørnøya. The fishing period for these activities shall be from 1 January to 15 October each year. Fishing quota is equivalent to chars measuring minimum 25 cm (specific table of total allowable catch and fishing-methods listed in article 10) in lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, freshwater lagoons or/and channels. Management of other anadromous salmonids are not included in this Regulation
