Regulation No. 1526 on the Prohibition of Fishing for Norwegian Spring-Spawning Herring in Svalbard’s Territorial Waters and Internal Waters in 2004.

This Regulation applies to Norwegian and foreign commercial fishing vessels of any type and support vessels including vessels for experimental fishing and exploration. It completely prohibits the fishing for Norwegian Spring-Spawning Herring in the territorial and inner waters of Svalbard in 2004. Infringement, caused by either intentional or negligent behaviour, shall be punished in accordance with section 4 of the Act relative to Svalbard of 1925. Assistance in fishing or attempt to fish shall be regarded as fishing and shall be punishable on the same terms.
