Abstract
The Regulation applies to 2014 fishing in the fishery protection zone around Svalbard by Norwegian and foreign vessels of any type engaged in commercial fishing and exploration activities. It is prohibited to fish for cod in the fishery protection zone around Svalbard, It is however allowed for Norwegian and Russian vessels fishing for Norwegian Arctic cod within fishery protection zone around Svalbard within the quotas allocated to vessels from these countries. For vessels from the EU, the maximum share of the total allowable catch of Norwegian Arctic cod fishing in 2014 is of 36 908 tons. For vessels from the Faroe Islands, the maximum share of the total allowable catch is 2 028 tons. Authorized fishing vessels in the Economic Zone are exempt from the total allowable catch quotas however only within the allocated quotas of Norwegian Arctic cod. Mixed catch from fishing Norwegian Arctic cod of 10% is exempt from the above quota restrictions.
