Abstract
The regulations of this document are intended to ensure the management of arctic char fishing (Salvelinus alpinus) in Svalbard to safeguard the marine production capability and composition, while ensuring recreational fishing as an important activity for residents of Svalbard. The Regulation ensures the fishing management for year 2015 and applies to fishing in and around rivers and marine areas in the Svalbard territory, including Hopen and Bjørnøya. The fishing period shall be from 1 January to 15 October each year. Fishing quota is equivalent to chars measuring minimum 25 cm (specific table of total allowable catch and fishing-methods listed in article 10) in lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, freshwater lagoons or/and channels. Management of other anadromous salmonids are not included in this Regulation. In areas opened for net fishing, nets must measure at least 200 meters from the inlet. Deep sea areas do not allow net-fishing in closer estuary (cross river/sea) than 200 meters.
