Regulation No. 2470 on fishing of horse mackerel in 2023.

The present Regulation, adopted by the Norwegian Fisheries Directorate, prohibits for Norwegian vessels to fish and land horse mackerel (scad) in Norway's territorial waters and economic zone, the fishing area around Jan Mayen, the protected fishing area around Svalbard, and in international waters in 2023. Notwithstanding this prohibition, Norwegian vessels with authorization may fish and land a total of 5,000 tonnes of horse mackerel, of which: a) 3,000 tonnes can be fished in Norway's territorial waters; and b) 2,000 tonnes are allocated to cover bycatch of horse mackerel in direct fishery of other species.
