Abstract
It is prohibited to hunt mink whales in Norway, nevertheless Norwegian vessels are authorized by the Directorate of Fisheries to participate in the catch of maximum 1 286 minke whales in the Norwegian Economic zone, in the protection zone around Svalbard, around Jan Mayen and in the international waters within the IWC areas ECB, EW, EN and CM. The hunting season starts on 1 April and vessels authorized to hunt must ensure a reporting of their catch in a logbook (or electronically) which will be submitted to the Fisheries Directorate within 8 days from the start of the hunting season.
