Regulation No. 406 on Satellite-Based Monitoring of the Activities of Fishing and Hunting Vessels in Svalbard’s Territorial Waters and Internal Waters.

This Decree applies to Norwegian or foreign fishing vessels of any type fishing in the territorial and inner waters of Svalbard. These vessels shall have a satellite tracking system installed on board and report continuously data in accordance with sections 2 and 3. Sections 4 and 5 provide for the circumstances in which the system fails. Alternative use of reporting shall be used and the vessel is under obligation to repair or substitute equipment within a month.
