Regulation No. 552 on mandatory reporting systems by vessels in Norwegian territorial waters and exclusive economic zone.

The purpose of this Regulation is to ensure the strengthening of maritime safety in the Barents region by improving the exchange of information between competent authorities and vessels. The Regulation shall apply to the and implement: the reporting system in adherence to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), Chapter 5, Rule 11 and described in IMO Resolution A.851 (20); Norwegian-Russian ships shall adopt the reporting system as described by the International Maritime Organization in SN.1/Circ.318 of 4 December 2012. Norwegian reportable areas include the area of the Barents SRS located in Norwegian waters and monitored by Norwegian authorities and which is the area west of the agreed demarcation line between Norway and Russia and AIS (Automatic Identification System) on dangerous and polluting goods.
