Regulation No. 698 on the protection of origin and geographical indication and provenience of traditional foodstuff.

The purpose of this Regulation is to protect product names of food from origin, geography and traditional character, as well as ensuring fair trade of these products. The application for protection of designations of traditional product characteristics shall include description of any additives, particular properties and minimum requirement for production control procedures. These regulations apply to foodstuffs and exclude provisions with regard to designation of origin and geographical indications for wines, spirit, flavored drinks, spring water and natural mineral water. Non-compliance with this Regulation shall be subject to penalty in accordance to article 28 of the Food Safety Act.
