Regulation No. 716 on alien organisms.

The purpose of the Regulation is to prevent the importation, release, and spread of foreign organisms that cause, or may cause, adverse effects on biodiversity. The Regulation applies to Norwegian land territory, including watercourses, in Norway's territorial waters, and on Jan Mayen. It does not apply to Svalbard. The Regulation prohibits the introduction of organisms listed in Annex I, as well as their release and trade. Permission is required for the introduction of organisms that are not covered by the prohibition, with the exception of organisms listed in Annex II. Permission is also required for the release of the organisms listed in section 10, with the exception of organisms included in Annex IV.
