Abstract
This Regulation provides rules for the fishing of inland fish and catching crayfish on the Norwegian mainland. The Regulation also applies to catadromous fish and marine species when they are in the watercourses. The Regulation specifies the freshwater fish species that may be fished and stipulates that it is allowed to fish for marine species in watercourses during the open season for fishing in the watercourse if fishing for the species in question is allowed at that time at sea. A County may prohibit fishing of species permitted to fish under this regulation if the species is locally or regionally threatened. The Environment Directorate may permit fishing and catching of other species in accordance with the conditions specified in section 16, third and fourth paragraphs of the Nature Diversity Act. The County governor or County council may lay down detailed rules on regulations in fishing, including fishing time, gear types, fishing methods and by-catch. The County governor and the County council may also provide rules on catch reporting. Certain other fishing may be authorized by the Directorate or the County.
