Abstract
This Regulation requires all individuals engaging in hunting or trapping on Svalbard to pass a hunting test, unless they can document valid qualifications from Norway or their country of residence. The test consists of a theoretical exam with multiple-choice questions on wildlife, hunting laws, safety, and equipment, and a practical course focusing on firearm handling and ethical hunting practices. Minors under 16 can participate under certain conditions, and those under 18 need parental consent. The Governor of Svalbard administers the test process and issue certificates, while local hunter associations organize the courses. Violations, such as hunting without certification, are subject to fines or imprisonment.
