Abstract
The objective of the present Regulation is to preserve species covered by the CITES convention and other naturally wild-living species that are or may become endangered as a result of trade. It applies to the import, export, and re-export of live and dead specimens of animal and plant species listed in Annex 1 of the Regulation. It also applies to the possession and commercial display of specimens listed in Annex 3 No. 1; and landing from the open sea of specimens of species listed in Annex 1, lists A and B. The Regulation contains 32 articles divided into the following chapters: 1. Objective and scope of application; 2. Import, export and possession; 3. Exceptions to Chapter 2; 4. Application, permit, ownership certificate, etc.; 5. Control, labelling, etc.; 6. Final provisions. Annex 1 contains the list of relevant species; Annex 2 contains a list of states subject to trade suspensions; and Annex 3 lays down rules concerning marking.
