Abstract
These Rules are framed in exercise of the powers contained in section 63 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075. Chapter 2 provides for rules relating to consumer protection. It states that the government is responsible for implementing policy measures and coordinating with other agencies and consumer organizations. The responsibilities of importers, hoarders, sellers and service providers are laid down. Further, the government of Nepal may determine the markets for goods and services, and set standards for pricing of goods and services. Chapter 3 contains provisions in respect of monitoring and inspection. This includes market inspections and emergency inspections if there is information about violations. The criteria for appointment of inspectors and the procedure for conducting inspections and investigation is also provided. Chapter 4 lays down the procedure for complaints, fines and compensation to be paid.
