Abstract
This Act covers disaster mitigation measures to earthquake, fire, storm, flood, landslide, heavy rain, drought, famine, epidemic, and other similar natural disaster. It also includes industrial accident or accidents caused by the explosions or any other kinds of disaster.
The Act sets up different institutions for disaster response which are a Central Natural Calamity Relief Committee, a Regional Natural Calamity Relief Committee, and District and Local level Natural Calamity Relief Committees. The Central Natural Calamity Relief Committee shall formulate and implement policies and programs relating to natural disaster relief work and undertake other necessary measures thereof. Moreover, the Central Committee shall prepare specific norms of relief assistance to be provided to the disaster victims of the affected areas.
