Abstract
The Ordinance is divided into three Parts: Preliminary (I); Protection of Fish (II); Miscellaneous Provisions (III).
The definition of "fish" includes fish and shellfish and every other marine animal, whether mammal, reptile, or crustacean and any other organic marine product (sect. 3). Section 5 provides for the prohibition of explosives, firearms, poison, or underwater breathing apparatus. A "fono" for fish may be declared by the Chief Agricultural Officer. During a fono, no person may enter the area for which the fono is declared or take any fish (sects. 6 and 7). Section 9 empowers the enforcement officers to destroy water plants called Lakau Niukini. The Cabinet may make regulations to implement the Ordinance.
