Abstract
These Regulations provide for the establishment of animal product standards under the Animal Products Act 1999. Part 1 establishes generic standards for animal material and animal product regarding: suitability of animal material to be used for processing into animal product; production, processing, and preparation of animal material and product in a manner that minimises contamination and deterioration; examining, sampling, and testing; packaging, storage, and handling requirements; identification, labelling, and record keeping. Part 2 provides for various miscellaneous matters including the making of specifications, by the Director-General, in relation to the competency, qualifications, or experience of persons who supply animals or animal material to primary processors (reg. 23).
