Abstract
These Regulations amend the Fisheries (Amateur Fishing) Regulations 1986.
A new regulation 27A is inserted to enable authorizations to take fish, aquatic life, or seaweed for approved traditional non-commercial fishing use to be obtained directly from a marae committee, Maori Committee, runanga, or Maori Trust Board. The new provision enables these bodies to grant authorizations in their own right and provides for the procedure that must be followed when granting authorizations. It also sets out offences relating to the granting of authorizations. Regulation 29, dealing with offences and penalties, has also been amended. A new Schedule has been added that prescribes the form that must be used for an authorization granted under the new regulation 27A.
