Abstract
These regulations apply to a person taking or possessing any fish, aquatic life, or seaweed to which these regulations relate from, or in, New Zealand fisheries waters. However, these regulations do not apply to a commercial fisher taking or possessing fish, aquatic life, or seaweed under a permit, licence, quota, or other authorisation issued or granted under the Act or any regulations made under the Act.
The Regulations fix net mesh sizes and species’ length for a number of fish species; provide restrictions on types of nets that may be used for amateur fishing; provide for the control on line fishing and requirements for whitebait and quinnat salmon fishing; set out maximum daily quotas and minimum sizes for shellfish; provide specific restrictions on taking of oysters, scallops, rock lobsters and black coral; provide for offences and penalties; etc.
