Abstract
The Act applies to an area as described in Annex 9 of the Torres Strait Treaty (Interpretation) and implements provisions of that Treaty. The Minister may take various kinds of measures to control the taking of fish (sects. 4-12). Other provisions are relating mainly to enforcement, penalties and regulation making powers of the Head of State. Special provisions are inserted for fishing by Australian vessels.
