Abstract
These Regulations lay down rules relating to the qualifications for food inspectors and analysts; standards for chemical contaminants, chemical residues and microorganisms and their toxins in food and food additives; packaging and labelling requirements; date marking; the powers and duties of Inspectors; inspection, sampling and analysis of food; food hygiene; food-borne diseases; construction of premises for food; transport and delivery of refrigerated or frozen foods; food storage; and offences and penalties. Regulation 5 prohibits the manufacture, sell, import, process, use, prepare, storage or display for sale any food or food additive that has been intentionally exposed to ionizing radiation without the prior written approval of the Minister to irradiate the food or food additive; or that has been accidentally exposed to ionizing radiation. Schedule 3 specifies the prescribed animal diseases. Regulation 39 prohibits to keep in premises used to store, handle or display meat, poultry or fish for sale for human consumption other meat, poultry or fish not generally used as food for human consumption. Schedule 5 sets out standards acceptable for statements of ingredients and component of imported food.
