Food Sanitation Act 1991.

The 51 sections of this Act are divided into 9 Parts: Preliminary (I); Food Sanitation Council (II); Food and food additives (III); Apparatus, package and labelling (IV); Inspection and analysis (V); Licensing (VI); Offences and proceedings generally (VII); Miscellaneous (VIII); Repeal (IX).
A Food Sanitation Council is established under section 3. The Council may establish Committees if necessary for the purposes of the Council. The Council shall have investigative functions as set out in section 5. The Minister may appoint food inspectors and food analysts or the purposes of this Act (sect. 8). Part III concerns standards for food (sect. 9), food additives and adultered food (sects. 10 and 11), prohibition on sale of meat from disease suffering animals (sect. 12) and newly developed food (sect. 13). Regulations shall prescribe businesses for the purposes of Part VI and shall prescribe the minimum requirements for categories of installations of premises in relation to each prescribed business.
