Imported Fish and Fishery Products Directive.

This Directive addresses food safety and sanitation for imported fish and fishery products and fish traceability relating to illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fish products entering into PNG market. It provides for the provision of quality standards for the importation, storage, transportation and processing of fish and fishery products for domestic consumption (locally made and imported) and export, and the import risk assessments to be conducted for all imported fish and fishery products by the Department of Health in collaboration with other relevant authorities. This Directive mandates obtaining agricultural quarantine import and health permits for all imports, with post-arrival requirements including the compliance with PNG's food sanitation laws and standards, and inspection under the PNG Customs monitoring regime.
