National Agri-trade and Food Safety Authority Ordinance, 2025.

The Ordinance establishes the National Agri-trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA) as a federal body to regulate sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures, food safety and quality standards for agricultural products, livestock, food, feed, fisheries products and agrochemicals in Pakistan, in line with international standards. It defines the Authority’s institutional structure and mandates it to oversee import, export and inter‑provincial trade through certification, inspection, quarantine, laboratory testing and accreditation systems to protect human, animal and plant health.
The Ordinance also provides for enforcement mechanisms including registration of operators, compliance monitoring, traceability, biosecurity and market surveillance, empowering authorities to inspect, sample, quarantine and dispose of non-compliant goods, and establishes offences and penalties. It further regulates inter-regional coordination, emergency measures, laboratory accreditation and administrative arrangements.
