Abstract
The Act introduces several amendments to the Sindh Protection of Human Rights Act, 2011 in order to enhance the protection of human rights in the region. Some key amendments include the appointment of Members of Provincial Assembly of Sindh and persons with demonstrable experience in the field of Human Rights to serve on the committee. The Act also establishes an alternate dispute resolution and accountability mechanism for business-related abuse of human rights. Additionally, the committee is empowered to visit business enterprises to investigate reported violations and abuse, ensuring accountability and access to remedy. Furthermore, the Act outlines the responsibilities of the committee to review safeguards provided by the Constitution and laws for the protection of human rights, as well as the National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights. The committee is tasked with recommending measures for effective implementation of procedures and due diligence in business enterprises.
