Abstract
The Act lays down principles concerning experimentation on animals. The Act is composed of nine Sections: (1) General provisions; (2) Principles of using animals for experimentation; (3) Keeping of animals for experimentation; (4) Breeding laboratory animals; (5) Experimental units and procedures; (6) Ethics committees for experiments on animals affairs; (7) Enforcement; (8) Criminal provisions; (9) Transitional and final provisions. Experiments on animals are allowed for the following reasons: testing efficiency and safety of medical products and foodstuffs; protection of human or animal health from diseases; environment protection; basic scientific research; high school education. The experiments are allowed only if the aims cannot be achieved without using animals.
